One evening walking back to our hotel in NYC, we came across the most magnificent balloon backdrop decorating the entire facade of a cafe. I stopped to ask the woman setting it up if this was a grand opening of some sort given the elaborate display of balloons. She said it was for a fashion show being held at her cafe the next day. When I asked her the name of the cafe and the fashion designer, the stars aligned. It turned out the cafe was Maman NYC, the original “Mother Cafe” to the Maman I frequent in downtown Toronto! The designer was BHLDN, and they were previewing the new wedding dress collection. After a few minutes of chatting I found myself with an invitation for the event.

I arrived the next morning dressed to brave the weather for a warm but rainy day ahead. This wool trench was the perfect layer to tackle the strange weather. Even if my boyfriend had referred to me as “Detective Drake”!

Scroll through to check out the beautiful display that will definitely serve as my next party decor inspiration!
