Swans & Sacher Torte

While in Vienna, we had one perfect day where everything we planned seemed to fall into place.

We started with watching the Morning Practice in the architecturally-stunning Spanish Riding School, which “is the only institution in the world that has practiced for nearly 450 years and continues to cultivate classical equitation in the Renaissance tradition of the Haute Ecole.”

We followed the performance with lunch at Palmenhaus, a converted glazed green house still filled with lush greenery, that momentarily transports you to the tropics. For dessert, we visited the iconic Hotel Sacher, where we ate their namesake cake, sacher torte, and warmed up with tea & thick hot chocolate.

To work off some of our recent indulgences, we climbed the 343 steps up to the top of Stephansdom Southern Tower, which afforded us not only a great view over all of Vienna, but the perfect place to see the tiled rooftop pattern of the Cathedral itself.

Afterwards, it was time to make our way to Mezzanin7 for some serious interior style inspiration.

I love planning an outfit based on the place I’ll be wearing it in, and this swan-printed silky Chicwish skirt seemed perfectly fitting, given the opulence yet whimsy of Vienna. Outfit details: Chicwish skirt, Shopbop crop top, Zara Jean Jacket, Ray Bans Aviators.
