5 of the Best Collabs for Spring 2015

Spring indicates a fresh start, an opportunity to turn over a new leaf. And with new beginnings, comes exciting new ideas, projects, and plans.  Spring 2015 promises just that with a multitude of creative partnerships sure to make their memorable mark. From museums to fashion designers, and artists to fairy tale characters, creatives of all backgrounds are teaming up together, forever blurring the lines of a typical title. Gone are the days when one’s CV simply read one working title, and instead everyone is wearing multiple hats, crossing industries like never before. This is an exciting time in the world of all things design, and these Spring 2015 collaborators are proving it.

Here are 5 of the Best Collaborations of Spring 2015:

1. Etsy x American Museum of National History

Arguably one of the coolest collabs this year, if not this decade, the popular DIY e-commerce website Etsy has teamed up with one of the most famous cultural institutions, New York City’s AMNH. Etsy Wholesale designers have designed a series of limited-edition products inspired by the Museum’s various exhibits to sell in its Gift Shop, as well as online here. The items  range from jewellery and accesories, to home goods, and prints. My favourite pieces include the most stunning Iceberg Pendant Necklace, Crystal Amythest Soap (that looks like the real thing), and these Gold-Leaf Salad Plates. You can also see behind-the-scenes of a few of the artist’s work process on Etsy’s blog.

2. Target x Lilly Pulitzer

Lilly Pulitzer

Target has long been known for teaming up with iconic brands to bring hot items at affordable prices, and their Lilly Pulitzer partnership promises just that. They have yet to reveal the entire collection, but it’s sure to be packed with dazzling patterns and bright colours. The 250-piece capsule collection launches on April 19th, but here’s a sneak peek:

3. Sperry Top Siders x Gray Malin

Sperry Gray Malin

Just when I thought one thing couldn’t get any better, it teams up with another amazing thing to become the absolute best. My love of Sperry’s runs deep, as they are the perfect comfort meets style shoe for travelling. Gray Malin is currently one of my favourite artists, so when the two announced their shoe collab, I was ecstatic. Unfortunately, the 4 limited-edition printed shoes (for both men and women) aren’t available outside the U.S. so I silently shed a tear while making a mental note of one day having an American shipping address. See the fun video where Mr. Malin himself talks about the process:

4. Clare Vivier x & Other Stories

Clare Vivier & Other Stories

For the second time, accessory designer Clare Viver has partnered with European fashion brand & Other Stories on a co-lab collection of colourful leather bags, accessories, and coordinated nail polishes. Although I’ve been a long time fan of Clare Vivier’s clutches, I was first introduced to & Other Stories while in Barcelona last year. I immediately fell in love with the streamlined silhouettes, fun patterns, and unique yet functional items (like my favourite mermaid-slippers, seen here!). Bright bags are sure to be a staple this Spring & Summer, and how irresistible is having the perfect matching mani? You can also take a closer look at the co-lab on CV’s blog.

5. MAC x Cinderella

Just recently launched, M.A.C Cosmetics has teamed up with Disney’s most iconic princess, Cinderella, to create a collection of dreamy makeup. The series stands out with all pearlized powdery blue packaging, and pearly pastel shades to make all your little girl dreams come true in makeup form.
With names such as “Gass Slipper” lipgloss, and an eye shadow combo in “Stroke of Midnight”, & even “Evil Stepmother”, there’s sure to be something for everyone.

Other notable collabs this Spring ’15:

Aldo x Iggy-Azalea making all your chic-teva fantasies come true.

Essie x Rebecca Minkoff as the newest global colour designer sure to bring the season’s best “It” hues to your nails.

I love the idea of pairing 2-3 beads toehtger. I would be all over that! I love to see how you combine colors and patterns and even if you didn’t decide to use them toehtger they would be a great way to jump start your creativity. There are people who like to do mismatched earrings and that would be a great thing for them to use. I am still enjoying marveling at the detail in the beads I bought from you. I love them! Enjoy the day. Erin
