Morocco is unlike any other place I’ve ever been.
The walled medina of Marrakech is a maze of contrasts: narrow chaotic streets filled with tantalizing scents and dizzying sounds, with hidden doors revealing a calm and peaceful oasis within. And the most outstanding oasis of the all lies behind the walls of La Mamounia Hotel. Indiscreet rust-coloured clay walls guard a palatial sanctuary within.
Just setting foot in La Mamounia makes you feel like royalty.
With its grand modern Moorish design, its individual spaces still seem intimate. The attention to detail is ever-apparent, with it intricately tiled surfaces, lush fabrics throughout and architectural details that look as if they’ve taken many lifetimes to create. A definite must-see (or must-stay!) for anyone visiting Morocco.
We loved spending the day there, wandering from exquisitely designed room to room, exploring all the hotel’s nooks and crevices, walking through manicured gardens, relaxing in the indoor spa, and lounging by the outdoor pool. It was the perfect place to don my favourite Ralph Lauren floral maxi, and give it a whirl within those magical walls.
