I recently had the pleasure of co-hosting a Baby Shower for our good friend on the island. Her and her partner are avid campers, so we immediately decided a ‘glamping’-themed party would be perfect for them. However, the ‘Happy Camper’ to-be was an eager little baby and ended up arriving earlier than planned! And so the shower quickly became a welcome party. Nevertheless, Jess and I had a blast planning and putting together all the details of the party, from baking up a storm, to creating all the decorations ourselves.
We opted out of playing typical games, and instead had fun with a photoshoot featuring camping-themed props that I designed, printed, and assembled. The menu was based off of your typical camp cuisine, with some camping-inspired goodies that would be considered indulgent around any campfire (but knew would be a hit with our new Mama). Savoury snacks included:
- Campfire Chili
- Rolled Up Sleeping Bag Wraps
- Truffled Mac n’ Cheese (recipe post coming soon!)
- Veggie Log Rolls
- Pretzel Stick “Twigs”
Having a total sweet-tooth, my focus was on the desserts table, which I had so much fun baking for. I made:
- S’mores Cupcakes (recipe post coming soon!)
- Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
- Hedge Hog Sugar Cookies
Guests got to sip on virgin Grapefruit Basil “Mimosas”. I also had a blast designing the invites, which was a bit of daunting feat considering the Mama-to-be is a graphic designer herself! Luckily, everything turned out to be a huge hit, as the party came to a close more than 8 hours later! Baby Huxley (and Mom & Dad) did fantastic.
